The Birds

For years and years I refused to watch the old Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds. I was afraid that I wouldn't like birds anymore after seeing it. A couple of years ago it was on T.V. and I watched it. It wasn't that bad. Certainly not his scariest movie. Anyway, the reason I'm thinking about it is that there are so many birds this year in the neighbourhood! I was sitting outside last night having a barbecue with some of my P.O.P. friends and I couldn't believe how many different bird songs and numbers of birds were out there! One flicker was sitting on the telephone wire giving us heck. I'll have to get the bird book and binoculars out. And invite my Dad over.He's good at recognising what bird is making which sound. Although, come to think of it, when Joanne and I were little we used to be amazed because he knew every dog's name. We found out later he was making them up!
