Over-indulging

Things I Don't Do Anymore -a poem by me

I don't bake Christmas treats
I don't decorate much
We don't want bigger seats
Or a lot of stuff and such.

Indulging in Poetry

Before the Paling of the Stars by Christina Georgina Rosetti

Before the paling of the stars,
Before the winter morn'
Before the earliest cock crow,
Jesus Christ was born:

Born in a stable,
Cradled in a manger,
in the world his hands had made
Born a stranger.

Priest and King lay fast asleep
In Jerusalem;
Young and old lay fast asleep
In crowded Bethlehem;
Saint and angel,ox and ass,
Kept a watch together
Before the Christmas daybreak
In the winter weather.

Jesus on his mother's breast
In the stable cold,
Spotless lamb of God was he,
Shepherd of the fold;
Let us kneel with Mary maid,
With Joseph bent and hoary,
With saint and angel,ox and ass
To hail the King of Glory.

Advent-urous

So,I took this week off work to get most of the Christmas stuff done. I don't bake for Christmas anymore. We're not so much dessert people. I did do lots of my shopping, and I decorated the house (I know it's not the 'pink'week) If I don't get that done early it doesn't get done. Then on Thursday I invited the Hickey women over-Anne,Erin, Heather, Maria and Abigail. We made appetisers to put in our freezers for whatever events we were facing. I also met with my Art and Environment committee and planned Advent and Christmas decorating for the church. A productive week, and man, does it ever take the stress away. I could do it this year because I had extra holidays left over. I wish I could do this every year. I'll definitely do the Hickey women day, that was fun. Did you realise that there are now more Hickey women that men in our immediate family? That'll shake things up!
