Ode to Birdie

Ray's Dad's longtime 'significant other', Birdie, died today. Birdie had a massive stroke 2 days ago and didn't really stand a chance at recovery. They took her off life support today and she died somewhere between noon and 1 p.m. Clarence and Birdie were together for many, many years. Although she was only 4 ft 7 inches tall, she was like a force of nature! Acadian-french accent and temperament, she was very definitely a Character, and a very kind person. She was fun to tease, especially for Ray,for everyone really. For someone so small she will leave a very big hole. Please say a prayer for Clarence and for all the family.

Italy Trip

Ray and I are counting down to our trip to Italy. We're leaving April 23,travelling with our good friends Brian and JoAnne, and Mike and Laurie. For those not introduced properly to these friends, Brian and JoAnne are our neighbours.Brian lived in Italy for 2 years, and JoAnne has travelled there as well. They are organising our accommodations and some itinerary things. Laurie and Mike are good friends that we met through our church.Laurie and I owned a wedding and party decorating business for a number of years.Every Friday night the 6 of us get together for Happy Hour after work,at one or another of our homes. We bring food and drink wine(some drink scotch too!) and wander home after an early evening of good food and deep and sometimes silly conversation. We have supported each other through health issues, family disasters, weddings of our kids, births of grandchildren, and even home renos!I sometimes tell them we should have a Woody Guthrie song written about us.We have a travel blog up and running, with pictures and info about our trip already posted! Check it out!
