Mendel

The art gallery here in S'toon is called the Mendel Art Gallery. They have a wonderful show of gorgeous paintings by Dorothy Knowles,a Saskatoon artist who made it big. We have our own style of landscape painting here, lending itself to watercolour softness and big huge skies. Other places, people live on the ground,in the prairie the ground is just a 'stand' for the sky.W.O.Mitchel said we were like flies on a platter. Other places I have lived and visited, the people don't notice the sky. Here you notice the sky first.Seeing a storm coming, hail clouds, incredible sunsets most nights, sunrises worth getting up for, the blue, blueness of the winter sky, and in fall the colour sceme of blue, blue sky over ripe ochre- yellow wheat.Really, the light is fantastic for artists and photographers.Check out her exhibit, or check her out online. Just google her name.

Back in the saddle again

Yay!!! I am now driving again! I still can't have caffeine because it makes me a little dizzy. It's been okay to give it up for awhile. I was surprised because, although I don't drink a lot of coffee, I really enjoy it.Actually a bit of a coffee snob.As a matter of fact, I wonder why anyone would bother drinking coffee that isn't good. My favorite coffee, aside from the lovely cappicinos we had in Italy, is the Sumatra from Caribou Coffee Company in the States(slogan: Life is short-stay awake for it) and the espresso roast from Starbucks, and Ten Thousand Villages bold roast. The coffee shop at the Mendel Art Gallery has European-style cappicinos and espressos.(also good paninis and salads)What is your favorite coffee place/blend?
