Ponding

Man, making a pond is a lot more work than I banked on! It's still a fun project, but I have other fish to fry. It's looking pretty good, though, I must say.

"Pond" ..."Banked On" ... "Fish to Fry", you sound more like a maritimer than I do. By the way, a job well done, I'm sure Madeline is a little disappointed that there are no fish to "play" with.

Speaking of work, I filled my pond with the wrong well water a week or so ago, and it was just full of rust. So today I sent two boys out with buckets to empty it, so I could clean it out yet again and refill it with the right water. Last year we were using filtered water and this year we don't have any, so I'm wondering if I should maybe be hauling town water. Ugh. I would have to take a barrel to town, fill it on a trailer, so that I could bring it home and leave the trailer parked beside the pond where I could then syphon it off into the pond whenever I need it. For now I'm just using our house water.
I really enjoy having the fountain going, though. I think all this just might be worth it. Once I get a system, it should be just fine.
